About Michael Crooke
Previously, Dr. Michael Crooke was CEO of VC firm Revolution Living; a group of companies working to change the way consumers and brands interact. He succeeded Patagonia’s founder, Ynon Chousinard, to serve as President and CEO of Patagonia, Inc. Prior to his arrival at Patagonia, Michael served as CEO/Chairman of Pearl Izumi.
Dr. Michael Crooke has been recognized by Trust Across America as one of Top 100 Thought Leaders in Trustworthy Business Behavior. The Ford Foundation named Dr. Crooke one of the 10 Innovators Changing Our World, and profiled him as one of ten cutting-edge innovators who are shaping new sustainable businesses and influencing positive change around the world.
Dr. Michael Crooke is a professor of business strategy, teaching capstone Leadership and Advanced Strategy courses to graduate students at the Lundquist College of Business at University of Oregon. Dr. Crooke concurrently is an independent consultant counseling high-growth businesses on strategic issues, in particular, developing direct to customer strategies that create an emotional connection to the brand. He currently serves on the board of directors of The Nantucket Project, an annual gathering of some of the world’s leading thinkers, visionaries, and performers.
In the late 1970’s, Crooke served as a Navy SEAL with Underwater Demolition Team 12 (UDT12) for four years, after successfully graduating from class 89: BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL).

McKenzie River Trust
The McKenzie River Trust is a nonprofit land trust formed in 1989 to protect critical habitat and scenic lands in the McKenzie basin. The Trust protects dozens of conservation projects in Oregon. These lands are protected and managed by the Trust for clean water, fish and wildlife habitat, and productive natural landscapes.
How the McKenzie River Trust spreads the good
The McKenzie River Trust acquires property interests in land with clear public benefits to ensure that those values will be available to people for many generations. By restoring natural water systems, the Trust works to enhance and reestablish the native vegetation, water cycles and other functional ecosystem elements throughout Oregon. In the year 2000, the Trust expanded their service area to include the watersheds of the Long Tom, Upper Willamette, Coast and Middle Forks of the Willamette, Umpqua, Siuslaw, and coastal streams and lakes from Reedsport to Yachats.
